Dutch mezzo soprano Claire Munting studied voice at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. After her graduation she continued her studies with James McCray, an American tenor who was taught by Mario del Monaco.
She was a member with the opera company "Della Casa" that travelled around Europe, performing at venues such as the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt and at St James' Palace in London for the Royal English Family.
Claire sang the roles of Adalgisa ( Norma/Bellini ), Fenena ( Nabucco/Verdi ) and Eboli ( Don Carlo/Verdi ) with the Colla Voce ensemble, Fenena ( Nabucco/Verdi ) with the Con Brio Orchestra, conducted by Peter Biloen, highlights from Carmen ( Carmen/Bizet ) with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Porcelijn, Santuzza ( Cavalleria Rusticana/Mascagni ) with the Rotterdam Opera.
Having a great love for Lieder, she has given many song recitals throughout the Netherlands, performing at the prestigious Grachtenfestival of Amsterdam in 2008 and 2010.
Since living in Australia, Claire has been invited to give a recital at Parliament House in Brisbane, was both vocal coach and soloist at the Queensland Music Festival 2013 and was the Artistic Director of Musica! 2015.
Claire worked with Opera Projects Sydney performing the roles of Badessa and Principessa ( Suor Angelica/Puccini ) and she created the “Tribute to Maria Callas” project which was performed at the Mosman Art Gallery in Sydney.
Future engagements include a recital at the Glebe Music Festival, a concert in the Friday Music series of St Stephens Uniting Church, more performances of “A Tribute to Maria Callas” and a recital in The Hague.
