NY Review

Dutch mezzo soprano Claire Munting sang a special repertoire of songs by Fauré, Brahms and Barber as well as some well known arias before an excited audience of members and guests of the Netherland Club of New York which celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2013.Steps away from the Rockefeller Plaza with its famous Christmas tree fully lit, it was a memorable performance.

With a deep and rich sound the voice of the mezzo soared from the lower ranges in the Lieder by Brahms to spectacular high notes in Eboli’s aria Canzone del Velo from Verdi’s Don Carlos.Accompanied by the talented and prize winning young pianist Jason Wirth, the duo was awarded with a standing ovation at the end of the recital. The performance was part of a series of Dutch classical music talent that includes the wind ensemble of the Royal Concertgebouw and the Rubens Quartet.
